Grueling...there is no other word to describe my weight/diet/exercise experience over the month of December. Self control - gone. Energy - huh wha? Wisdom - ha! Excuses - far too many to count. And it was so bad that December morphed into January and I didn’t get back to business til I got a little inspiration from a friend who decided to join Weight Watchers last week. So my “new year, new you renewal” was about a week or so late - better late than never I guess.
So I’m back on the horse - and the horse is huffing from the FOUR POUNDS gained over the holidays. Did I eat one of the wise men or something? Ugh. One step forward...nine steps back.
But I’m here, I’m ready and I’m recommitted. I weighed in just a bit ago and I'm down a bit. Nothing to throw a parade over, but down is always better than up.

Here are my goals for the month of January:
Take my measurements
(so I have another way to calculate success when the scale is temperamental)
Lose five pounds by February 1st
Get back to Jazzercise 3-4 times per week
Follow the WW principles like I was before the holidays got me
Weigh in once a week so I keep things in check

To celebrate the new year, I’m trying a new product that was recommended by one of the WW leaders last week. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you PB2 from Bell Plantation.
Peanut Butter is the forbidden fruit to many dieters and certainly this Weight Watcher has a hard time calling it quits with just a tablespoon or two. So how wonderful is this: PB2 is made with premium quality peanuts that are slow-roasted to our specifications and pressed to remove the fat. It’s all natural with no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Same consistency as full-fat peanut butter with all of the roasted peanut flavor, but with more than 85% less fat calories. You mix this peanut “butter” powder with water or your favorite jam and voila you have the peanutty taste without the fatty side effects! Per serving it’s 53.2 calories, 1.87 grams of fat and 0.48 grams of fiber or 1 point for a two tablespoon serving in the WW world. I’m excited to give it a try and it should arrive from the UPS guy tomorrow.
And I’m giving a jar away to one lucky reader. Leave a comment here telling one thing you’re doing to start the new year off right. I might just steal the idea from you! Winner will be selected next Tuesday - I’ll announce the peanut lover in my normal post. Good luck!

One thing I'm doing to start the new year right is incorporating more filling foods into my day.
I've never tried PB2, but I love peanut butter, so this sounds interesting.
Hey lady! Great goals!! Sounds like you're back on track and ready to roll to me. Don't beat yourself up too much - the holidays are TOUGH!! All those tempting treats and family that knows exactly what you're favorites are. Ugh.
I love peanut butter too, and still indulge in a spoonful now and then (with a few choc chips sprinkled on top!) I'm intrigued by this idea, but a little skeptical about the taste. I'd love to try it, or hear what you think. Keep us posted!
My "Get Fit Plan" is really working well for me. I think the fact that I structured it to earn positive points for doing the things I need to do and that I'm working toward a great "reward" is making all the difference. I'm much more motivated. Here's my GFP post:
http://psychmamma.wordpress.com/2008/12/04/the-get-fit-plan/
I'm also tracking my goals and points through www.joesgoals.com
Finally, I'm still determined to NOT give GWB anymore $$ for his library. {wink}
Wishing you lots of success! Let me know if I can help in the motivation area in any way.
I want to try that peanut butter.
I have only had 1 PB&J sandwich since I started WW in November.
This year I joined the totalwellbeing challenge (http://totalwellbeing.ning.com/) of losing 10 pounds in 6 weeks. I took all my measurements and I will take them again at the end of each 6 week challenge period.
The first challenge started Januray 2nd but because we moved sites @totalwellbeing extended the sign up for the 1st 6 week period for a bit longer ~ sign up and join us!!
I'm inspired by your "re"-commitment- go, you! One thing I'm doing to kick off 2009 in a good way is training for a 10k. I found a training program I liked (on http://running.about.com) and I put it into my calendar and started yesterday!
As a fellow peanut butter lover, I can also recommend "Better N' Peanut Butter" - but it is about 1 pt/1 T, so I have always wanted to try the PB2. Curious to know how you like it!
I think I've blocked out just how much EVIL resides in Peanut Butter (or for that matter, in the handful of Almonds and Peanuts I just snacked on -do they cancel each other out?).
I used to love my PB&J on toast or a bagel - now I try to stick to whole wheat bagels with Neufchatel and maybe just a hint of jam... every little bit of effort helps right? Actually, I happen to like whole wheat bagels plain, which I can't say about my beloved onion bagels...
My biggest goals for the New Year are my return to the gym (it burrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnsssssss!) and my experiment at cutting out Aspartame. Someone told me it's terribly bad for you and contributes to "fuzzy thinking" on a day when I was especially fuzzy. After finishing what was in the house I'm on Iced Tea, fizzy water, coffee, and -if I really want that soda fix - I'm trying the Diet Coke made with Splenda (initial impression: eh).
one thing i'm doing this year is focusing on my health, and not my weight so much. i want to judge my success in the fact that i no longer wheeze after walking for 10 minutes, and not what my scale is telling me. (in fact, my goal is to not step on the scale at all, which i've kept so far this year. although, it could also be because i don't want to know.)
i'd really like to join weight watchers because i think they teach healthy eating habits, and i've known a lot of people who have had success with them. but then, they require you to be weighed at every session. can i bypass that part?
Hmm that sounds interesting. I so miss peanut butter (with chocolate). YUM!

I have gotten back into the habit of planning out a week's worth of meals with my family on Sunday morning. Do that, make grocery list, buy things for meals, stick to plan. Much better than just "winging it" with whatever is in the fridge at the last minute when everyone is hungry (including me!)
Send peanut butter marvel. Please? ((grin))
woohoo! I am very excited for you to get back on the wagon. I just need to exercise. I keep saying I am going to get something to go with the wii (either the fit or the personal trainer but I have done neither)
a comment. I've joined WW, and I am doing the points. I had done this in the past, and quit when I lost some weight. I started at 283 (5'9), and today is my first official WI! :-)
Dying to try this stuff!! I am exercising!! Broke my wrist & fractured my ankle October 30, and I finally need to get over my fears of getting hurt again and start MOVING!
I'm tracking and consciously choosing filling foods whenever possible. 2.5 of the holiday weight is gone thus far !
Have heard people talk about bp2. Would love to try.
Considering all of the holiday temptations, I'd say 4 pounds isn't bad at all.
See, this is why people like me. ;)
i just started ww this week for the first time. and i'm addicted to pb. sounds like pb2 might be just what i need!

I've been wanting to try PB2, I reviewed Better n' Peanut Butter on my blog and I was not impressed.
I am starting to cross-train. I had been walking exclusively, but now I'm doing some weights and hitting the elliptical. I want to hit my goal weight by the end of the year, so I need to get cracking!
